The Property
Located just up from the intersection of two of Colorado’s most beautiful mountain passes - McClure Pass and Kebler Pass - Stone River Glen is secluded, yet accessible. The charming town of Paonia, with its many wineries and organic farms, is a convenient 25 minute drive and the property is easily reached from the metropolitan hubs of Colorado - 90 minutes from Grand Junction and 4 hours from Denver. Once here the recreational opportunities are abundant; hiking, biking, climbing, fly fishing, dining, shopping, or just sit and enjoy the solitude of the property. We can’t wait for you to come visit and hope this guide serves as a useful resource to make the most of your stay!
GETTING HERE
Out of town guests can fly into the Denver International Airport or into Grand Junction Airport. (There are also several smaller regional airports). Renting a car will give maximum flexibility to explore the area however, there are bus/shuttle services that can get you close!
Cell service goes in and out through the scenic drives to get here - use your GPS to map directly to 27862 County Rd. 12, Somerset.
From Paonia - Take Highway 133 towards Carbondale (McClure Pass) 17 miles. Follow the signs for Gunnison/Crested Butte and turn right at the junction for Kebler Pass (County Rd. 12). After mile marker 3, look out for the big log entrance on the right.
From Glenwood - Head South to Carbondale and then take Highway 133 towards Paonia over McClure Pass. After Paonia State Park, turn left at the junction for Kebler Pass (signs to Gunnison/Crested Butte - County Rd. 12). After mile marker 3, look out for the big log entrance on the right.
From Crested Butte - Take Kebler Pass Road from Crested Butte 33 miles over the stunning scenic pass. After mile marker 4, look out for the big log entrance on the left. (note: Kebler Pass is closed November through May)
After turning into the log entrance, cross the bridge and stay left - Stone River Glen is at the end of the drive!
PARKING/TRANSPORTATION
Parking: There is plenty of parking on site for guests however, we encourage carpooling whenever possible. Please park at the entrance to the property in the designated area.
Lyfts, Ubers, Taxis: As noted above, there is no cell service on the property but there is WiFi. There are limited transport services available in the area - please plan ahead.

DESIGNATED SMOKING AREA
There is a designated smoking area on the property - smoking is not permitted inside the cabins or in other locations on the property.
CELL SERVICE/WIFI
Stone River Glen is tucked away in a private valley on 51 acres with wooded hills on both sides and a river running through it.
Pros: Amazing views of the Ragged Mountains, privacy, wildlife, and a pace that energizes and brings tranquility.
Cons (we think this can also be a pro!): There is no cell phone coverage on the property.
We recommend leaning into the quietness however, we also know that successful events require good communication! The property is quipped with Starlink WiFi services and the nearby towns of Paonia and Hotchkiss have full cell coverage.
HIGH ALTITUDE
The property sits at 6,500 ft above sea level. Guests coming from lower elevations should make sure to drink lots of water, not overindulge on alcohol (1 drink at altitude can affect you like 2 at sea level), and allow time to adjust before physical activity. WEATHER/CLIMATE
Even during the middle of summer it can be cool in the mornings/evenings. The cool mountain air is part of what makes the property so special. We recommend guests bring layers and appropriate footwear so you can stay comfortable all day!
Mountain weather in Colorado can be unpredictable and is known to change rapidly. Please plan ahead and be prepared if you plan to do hiking or other outdoor activities in the area.
OUTSIDE ALCOHOL
Event alcohol is managed by Stone River Glen and all alcohol for events on site will be served by staff or professional vendor. Guests are not permitted to bring any outside alcohol to events - this will be strictly enforced. Guests staying onsite are welcome to enjoy their alcoholic beverages in the cabins and non-event spaces.
CHILD SAFETY
Our natural environment requires adult supervision.
In The Area
LODGING OPTIONS

The cabins on the property are not available for standalone rentals and can only be booked as part of an event. This allows us to keep events personal!
There are many options in the area for additional lodging for all tastes. Things can book out quickly, especially during the peak summer months, so we recommend booking your lodging as soon as possible!
ACTIVITIES IN THE AREA
Adventure:
There’s no shortage of beautiful hiking in the area with options to suit all enthusiasts. Cool off by rafting on the North Fork of the Gunnison or go boating in Paonia Reservoir. There are countless other opportunities for adventure in the area including fishing, rock climbing, and more.
Day Trips:
Travel over McClure pass to Carbondale, a 45 minute drive, or go 10 more minutes towards 1-70 and enjoy a soak in the famous Iron Mountain Hot Springs in Glenwood. During spring, summer and fall, Kebler pass will amaze you with its expansive aspen forest as its takes you on an enchanting 30 mile drive into heart of the mountain ski town of Crested Butte. Visit the historic mining towns of Marble and Redstone to soak in some Colorado history.
Wineries/Orchards:
Paonia is becoming well known for its numerous wineries and orchards. Pop into one for a glass or make a day of it with local wine tours. Depending on the time of year you can also participate in the harvest or enjoy fresh produce at many local vendors.
